COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1.    Identify aspects of language acquisition and language learning.
2.    Analyse the problems encountered by the learning disabilities students in language learning.
3.    Acquire specific strategies in teaching listening, speaking, reading and writing skills to learning disabilities students.
4.    Produce teaching aids suitable for the learning disabilities students.
5.    Micro teaching an English language lesson.

This project is to evaluate the learning outcomes of number 2, 3, 4, and 5

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
By the end of this project, the students should be able:
1.    To gather information from various sources related to language learning skills (choose only one language skill; listening, speaking, reading or writing) to learning disabilities students and able to summarise them using graphic organizer.
2.    To analyse the problems encountered by the learning disabilities students in language learning (the language skill) you have chosen based on the information gathered and write an essay.
3.    To design and produce teaching language activities using “Power Point Program” that may help the students better and enable them to easily understand the skill that you have chosen.
4.    To develop a detailed lesson plan based on the syllabus study on how your chosen language skill can be implemented in teaching the students and show how the “Power Point Activities” you designed can be used in your lesson.
5.    To carry out a teaching lesson in the classroom and write an evaluation by reflecting on the teaching session.
TASK:
Paul Eggen and Don Kauchak (2005:65) in their book “Educational Psychology” stated the role of parents and teachers in language acquisition and learning among children as below:
“Children use language to express needs and desires. Parents adapt language to fir the capabilities of the child and then raise the ante by using bigger words and more complex sentences as the child’s language skills develop. Teachers and other adults promote language development through interactions that encourage children’s use of language and feedback that helps correct, refine and extend language.”
This shows that teachers for learning disabilities students should know how to develop the language skills of the children. This can be done by implementing appropriate strategies in teaching and learning language skills.

Detailed Requirements for Assignment
In order to complete this project, here is the list of tasks that you need to do:
i.              Search and photocopy/print out ONE most relevant articles about teaching and learning language skills that you chose (listening, speaking, writing or reading) to learning disabilities students.
ii.            Prepare a summary of the articles that you have read thoroughly.
iii.           Based on the ideas you gather from the articles (step i and ii), prepare a teaching language activities and lesson plan to teach an English language topic for disabilities students.
iv.           Format of your written report must be:
- Font Arial 12
- 1.5 line spacing
- Quote references using APA format
- All graphs, diagrams, pictures should be labeled and appended
- Appendix          
v. Plagiarism is NOT allowed.
vi. This course work constitutes 60% of the course assessment.

A good assignment should show:
1.    Comprehensive coverage and content.
2.    In depth understanding of lesson
3.    Evidence of relevant materials from various sources
4.    Appropriate application of related ideas and theories
5.    Good citation and referencing skill.
6.    Originality in planning and presentation
7.    Demonstrate maturity of thought in reflection
